Wasatch Introduces SoftRIP Version 5.3
with New Tools for Easy Spot Colors and Superior Color Separations
Salt Lake City, UT,
July 5, 2006
— Wasatch Computer Technology, LLC has released version 5.3 of Wasatch SoftRIP®. This release offers significant feature releases for users looking for great color and those producing monochromatic prints for the flexo and screen printing markets. Whatever your printing needs, with Version 5.3 you succeed with SoftRIP.
Know Your Spot Colors are Perfect with Color Atlas Generator
The Color Atlas Generator helps you produce custom spot colors based on your particular print scenario. Simply specify a range of color swatches to print using your selected printer, profile, ink, and media. To reproduce exact colors, pick your desired swatch and enter its RGB values into SoftRIP. With this tool, you can be sure your spot colors will match 100%, every time.
The Color Atlas Generator is ideal for workflows in which you are using modified profiles, or rendering intents that modify your color to optimize photographic output while shifting your spot colors. In these workflows, entering values to correspond to standardized swatch book values will not produce the color you want. This is no problem for Wasatch—in these scenarios the atlas will help you produce exact spot colors quickly.
Users of the SoftRIP Textile Edition have been using this innovative feature for years to achieve exact Spot Colors in complicated direct-to-fabric workflows. With version 5.3, this spot color tool becomes a standard component of SoftRIP—a $250 value to our customers.
Achieve Breakthrough Color Separations Density
Using Epson 4800/7800/9800 Printers
Wasatch SoftRIP SP now includes halftone capabilities to easily achieve high dMax using the Epson x800 series printers, while also improving dot placement accuracy. In the words of one beta site, "These new features in 5.3 are nothing short of a breakthrough!"
The new line of Epson printers have been problematic for film output. This is because the new ink is optimized for photographic output and is less effective at blocking ultraviolet light than previous inks. In v5.3, Wasatch Precision Rosette Screens®; has been augmented with a new method for generating halftones that doubles the number of usable print modes and achievable densities. Users from the field tell us that this advance even gives them the power to produce high quality films up to 150 lpi with acceptable densities and dot accuracy.
