Wasatch Announces Workflow Enhancements
with new SoftRIP 5.1
April 12, 2004—Salt Lake City, UT—Wasatch Computer Technology has announced the release of Wasatch SoftRIP Version 5.1. This new version of SoftRIP builds on the ground breaking architecture of Version 5.0 to provide complete command and control of an organization's production environment. From the artist's workstation to the completed print, Version 5.1 provides a faster, easier, more complete workflow.
At the core of SoftRIP 5.1 is the new Live View Master Queues Screen-perfect for users who want superior control of their queues without pausing their production for a single minute. With SoftRIP Version 5.1, users can control their RIP and Print Queues for four printers simultaneously and in real-time. They can use it to monitor the progress of jobs as they move effortlessly through RIP and Print queues, change job priorities, access cutting queues, and even drag-and-drop jobs between print units. In short, users with Wasatch SoftRIP can now manage the largest and most complex production environments with ease.
Version 5.1 also introduces a new media-saving Smart Nesting feature for users who prefer batch printing to maximize media usage. Users can choose from a variety of nesting options based on their preferences for media saving versus easy trimming. With Tightest Fit, SoftRIP lays out jobs to maximize media savings. While Tightest Fit saves the most media, it can be difficult to cut out. To facilitate easier cutting, Wasatch has created nesting options that achieve a compromise between media and time saving. Easiest Cut creates an efficient arrangement in which all jobs are laid out to be trimmed horizontally and then in single vertical cuts. With the innovative Tighter Easy Cut, even more media is saved with a tighter arrangement that allows users to make long cuts across the entire media in an ongoing rotate and cut action.
Wasatch has not limited the innovations in this release to the RIP station. Users can use hot folder-based scaling, mirror, and rotation capabilities to speed file preparation from any workstation. Plus, with new 5.1 users also have the ability to create an unlimited number of hotfolders-accessible to any Mac or PC on the user's network using Wasatch ImageNET. Remote users will find that they can do most required RIP tasks easily without ever going to the RIP station.
