Wasatch Adds New Features to SoftRIP® SP for Screen Printers
Salt Lake City, UT,
February 1, 2004
—
Wasatch Computer Technology has announced that its latest upgrade to SoftRIP SP for Screen Printers enhances support for PostScript's Overprint function. When making digital color separations, applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, and QuarkXpress use this feature to specify trapping in composite color files. The new control window, which is now a standard part of the SoftRIP SP package, allows processing of PostScript Overprint to be specified as part of an Imaging Configuration.
In conjunction with Overprint support, the Print Queue master screen has been modified to include a new Separation column, which identifies the color plate, and the halftoning choices that SoftRIP has made for the rendering of that plate. The Print Queue master screen allows key operations for all jobs and output devices to be managed from a single location.
In addition, a new user-editable plate-color mapping table has been added to the SP interface. The new control window allows plate assignments from applications such as QuarkXpress to be added, edited or deleted.
About Wasatch SoftRIP SP for Screen Printers
Since its introduction in 2001, Wasatch SoftRIP SP has revolutionized the production of high quality wide-format color separations using inkjet printers instead of image setters. A key component is Wasatch's Precision Rosette Screens®, which offer a tool familiar to conventional pre-press professionals, and can produce perfect center-filled rosettes across the full width of a wide format digital printer. In addition, SoftRIP SP offers complete operator control of angles and frequencies for PostScript screens. A wide selection of predefined dot shapes, as well as support for application-defined screens is included in the package.
Wasatch has not limited the innovations in this release to the RIP station. Users can use hot folder-based scaling, mirror, and rotation capabilities to speed file preparation from any workstation. Plus, with new 5.1 users also have the ability to create an unlimited number of hotfolders-accessible to any Mac or PC on the user's network using Wasatch ImageNET. Remote users will find that they can do most required RIP tasks easily without ever going to the RIP station.
