EPSON Stylus Pro 7600/9600

Print Mode:
Pressing the Properties button on the Imaging Configuration
screen will launch the control panel for this printer
- Print Mode: Select desired ink and resolution.
- Print Direction: Print in one direction (uni) or both directions (bi)
- Dot Size: For most of the modes, 4 dot sizes are available:
- Micro (the smallest fixed dot)
- Normal (a larger fixed dot)
- Double (the largest fixed dot)
- Variable (varies the dot size dependent on the density in the image)
The 2880x1440 dpi mode and the 1440x1440 mode offers one possible dot size, which is the smallest dot by default.
- Auto Cut: Select to trim off roll when completed
- Paper Source: Select appropriate source.
- Ink Type: Select either 'Pigment' or 'Dye' to match the
model of Epson 7600/9600 printer that you are connected to.
- Passes: A resolution of 1440dpi x 720dpi has a choice for higher pass counts.
- Density: For each of the above dot sizes, two densities are available, Light
and Dark. Light is generally used for the higher resolutions (720 dpi and above),
and Dark is generally used for the lower resolutions (below 720 dpi). However, based
on the media you have loaded in the printer, you may want to change this setting to
reduce or increase the amount of ink being laid down.
- Paper size settings: Enter the correct sheet dimensions.
Media Settings:
The media settings can be found on the second page of the control panel
- Media Type: Choosing "Front Panel" uses the front panel settings of the printer. The choice of
"Third Party Media" allows for user defined settings. Otherwise, consult users manual for help in choosing
the closest media type.
- Use Default: Use default is checked whenever media type is changed. Deselect in order to send other values.
- Paper Thickness: Select paper thickness for chosen media.
- Platen Gap: Platen gap sets the distance from the platen to the head. If platen gap is smaller than
the paper thickness setting, the printer will adjust the platen gap accordingly
- Send Paper Feed Calibration: Check to send a value for a media feed calibration
- Paper Feed Calibration:
To find an exact Paper Feed Calibration Value:
- Print a line that is 1000 mm long in the paper feed direction
- Measure the actual printed distance
- Enter the difference in millimeters. For example, enter -5 if a measurement of the print is
a value of 995 mm
- Vacuum Intensity: Sets the vacuum intensity ratio. Maximum intensity is at 1.0
Advanced / Color Separations
The Color Separations controls become active when a Monochrome mode is selected
and Variable Dot is not selected. They can be found on the third page of the control panel.
Borderless Printing:
Also on the second tab of the control panel are the controls for the Epson 7600/9600's
Borderless Printing option. This option allows you to output prints without any margins or borders. This is done by overprinting and then cutting into the print for the top and bottom, and overprinting into pads inside the printer for the left and right sides.
Marginless printing is only valid for the following media widths:
10", 12", 14", 16", 20", 24", 36", 44", 300/400/500/600 mm.
When printing using Left/Right borderless printing:
- Since part of the image sent to the printer is printed off of the paper, make sure the image is scaled inside of SoftRIP to 3mm (0.118 in) greater than the paper width on each side (6 mm total).
When printing using Top/Bottom borderless printing:
- Left/Right borderless printing must also be selected. See Left/Right printing above.
- Under the printer's 'No Margin' setting, you must select either 1-Cut or 2-Cut mode.
- 1-Cut: Performs a quick cut with minimum waste between pages, but it may be slightly off of horizontal.
- 2-Cut: Cuts the image perfectly, but wastes space between pages.
- Auto-cut must be enabled.
- Since the cutting method for borderless printing deviates from Epson's 3-cut or 4-cut pattern, we have found that increasing the suction on the front panel to 'High' for some media prevents paper jams during cuts.
- In '2-Cut' mode, since part of the image sent to the printer is printed in area that will be cut off, make sure that the image is scaled inside of SoftRIP to 1mm (0.039 in) greater than the paper width on the top and bottom (2 mm total).
NOTE: When choosing print modes and matching color configurations for this printer,
be careful to distinguish between normal 1440 and 720 dpi modes, and the "DRY" modes
for those output resolutions. The DRY modes are appropriate for media
that have trouble with excessive ink.
